Making a difference in your child’s education
Parent Committees and Policy Council members work together with Suwannee Valley 4C (SV4Cs) staff to provide outstanding educational experiences for their children. Being an active part of the group allows you, the parent, to get involved and make a difference in your child’s education.
Parent Committees
All parents who have children enrolled in a Suwannee Valley 4C Head Start or Early Head Start program are automatically members of the Parent Committee at their child’s school.
Being an active member of the Parent Committee means you get involved in your child’s education, you partake in the election of a parent to represent your school on the Policy Council, and, with help from SV4Cs staff, you plan program-related activities that benefit the parents at your school.
YOU CAN BE INVOLVED in the following ways:
- Attend meetings and workshops
- Get involved in program-related activities
- Share ideas and suggestions for learning activities
- Share your observations of children’s development, behavior, interest, and strengths with staff
- Share ideas and suggestions for parent workshops

Being your school’s representative, or alternate, on Policy Council means you are the voice for all parents at your school. You will communicate and cooperatively work with management to make the most effective decisions for the program.
